BELOIT – The Beloit Area Community Health Center is now ranked as one of the top federally qualified health centers in Wisconsin for three quality measures.

For the first time, the center now ranks number one for depression screening; number two for tobacco and hypertension screening; and number three for BMI (Body Mass Index) screening among the 17 federally qualified health centers in the state.

Julie Sprecher, CEO for Beloit Area Community Health Center, said the rankings show the clinic’s commitment to patients’ overall health.

“It’s important that we continue to ask the right questions and create treatment plans that will enhance our patient’s quality of life and provide for integrated healthcare between our medical, dental and behavioral health services,” Sprecher said.

She said the clinic is currently seeing approximately 13,000-14,000 patients.

Ruth Amenda, director of quality, said the measures are tracked at each patient’s medical appointment and are documented in the clinic’s electronic records by medical assistants.

“It is so important to ask the right questions and build a rapport with patients,” Amenda said. “The reason we have been ranked so highly is because our staff is committed to quality care for our patients.”

Amenda said quality measures are reviewed monthly and shared among all staff to keep everyone up-to- date with our progress,

“This also encourages coaching and mentoring among staff, which has been an added benefit,” Amenda said.
