One of the best kept secrets in New York is the Ryan Chelsea Health Clinic. This clinic has saved my life. The doctors are amazing (love you Dr. Schwartz), the staff friendly, caring and what is most amazing of all is that they treat every single patient like a human being. If you need health care or if you are looking to donate money, I can not recommend this clinic enough.

On June 7, The William F. Ryan Community Health Network hosted an anniversary gala at Capitale to mark 50 years of providing quality healthcare for all New Yorkers. Through generous donations by sponsors and benefactors, as well as special silent and live auctions, the Ryan Network raised more than $550,000, which will go towards supporting the critically important health services provided by Ryan’s medical staff.

Members of The William F. Ryan Community Health Network’s executive team, including Board Chairs from the William F. Ryan Community Health Center and the Ryan Chelsea/Clinton Community Health Center joined honored guests, friends and family, along with relatives of the the Network’s namesake, the late Congressman William F. Ryan.

“I would like to thank our generous supporters, along with our tireless staff and volunteers, for helping make our 50th anniversary gala an unqualified success,” said Brian McIndoe, President and CEO of The William F. Ryan Community Health Network. “They truly take our charge to heart: that healthcare is a right, not a privilege.  We look forward to continuing our commitment to caring for all New Yorkers for the next 50 years and beyond.”

Nancy Giles, “CBS Sunday Morning” contributor, served as emcee for the evening’s proceedings.  Recognized for their contributions to community health care were Arthur A. Gianelli, President of Mount Sinai St. Luke’s, part of the Mount Sinai Health System; Peter Epp, who leads the Community Health practice for the nationally-renowned advisory firm CohnReznick; and, Maria Davis, member of the City of New York’s HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA) Advisory Board.

“I am proud to be associated with the Ryan Center’s legacy of service to the underserved,” said Mr. Gianelli. “We must have faith that national treasures like the Ryan Center will be around for another 50 years, ensuring that the relentless work of caring for the sick, the weak, the frail, and the poor will be done and done well.”

“I have grown up in the community health center movement over the past 30 years with the Ryan Network, helping the leadership here navigate through some very troubling times,” said honoree Peter Epp.  “I am pleased to have played a role in helping Ryan and other community health centers nationwide continue our march towards ensuring healthcare as a right for all, and I know that Brian and our Boards are equipped to continue Ryan’s growth for years to come.”

The William F. Ryan Community Health Network is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that has provided high quality, affordable, and culturally and linguistically competent, primary, preventive, and specialty healthcare and support services to diverse and underserved communities for 50 years. Today, the six Manhattan primary service sites, six school-based health centers, five community residence sites and fully-equipped mobile medical van, which together comprise the William F. Ryan Community Health Network, share a common mission, supported by the founding principle that healthcare is a right, not a privilege. The organization is nationally recognized for its history of responsive and successful community-wide programming and impressive proficiency in the area of service expansion and community collaboration.
