The Community Health Centers of Central Wyoming are merging with Fremont County Pediatrics on April 1. Fremont County Pediatrics is a private practice and the current staff will continue at the clinic after the merger.

“From April 1 forward, the successful practice of pediatricians Richard Barnes, MD and Mary Barnes, D.O. will continue operating as a new access location of CHCCW,” reads a CHCCW press release.

CHCCW Director of Marketing Tammi Hanshaw said the merger will allow CHCCW to reach more patients.

“It’s expanding our practice so we can help more people in the community,” Hanshaw said of the merger. “This will give people who are uninsured ot under-insured the opportunity to receive services on a sliding scale.

Hanshaw explained that household income determines the cost of care at CHCCW on a sliding scale. She said that CHCCW’s status as a federally qualified health center allowed them to provide insurance options that private practices sometimes can’t.

Hanshaw said patients at the Fremont center would also have access to dental services in Casper.

She said that CHCCW would be adding a new pediatrician to the Fremont center. She assured current Fremont County Pediatrics patients that the existing staff would still be in place and that patients could continue to receive care uninterrupted.

“‘Providing a smooth transition of care while not changing providers or doctors for the 800-1000 patients we see every month had to be seamless, and we have tried our best to assure that our patients will not even notice as the doctors won’t change, the front desk staff and nurses won’t change, the locations won’t change, and the phone numbers won’t change,’” the news release quotes Barnes as saying.

Fremont County Pediatrics is located at 704 E. Fremont Ave. in Riverton.
