Johnson Health Center’s (JHC) mission “To Improve Access to Health Care for All” has taken another step towards that goal with the purchase of a new facility located at 2402 Atherholt Road, Lynchburg. The new JHC facility was formerly the home of Piedmont Eye Center.
Johnson Health Center will open the Women and Children’s Health Center of Excellence in early 2017. The site was chosen due to its size, allowing for much needed room for growth and its ease of access for patients from the surrounding communities.
The facility location is less than 2 miles from the current JHC Pediatric OB/Gyn center on Federal Street and remains on GLTC’s bus line. The much anticipated opening is projected for February 2017 after necessary renovations. JHC plans to relocate most of its pediatric and OB/Gyn services to the new facility. The new facility will allow for coordinated care for women and children; comprehensive women’s services as well as prenatal care with delivery at Virginia Baptist Hospital.
Services will continue to include: OB/Gyn women’s health services, full pediatrics services including psychological testing, behavioral health care and added dental care for pregnant mothers and children, all under one roof.
Currently, JHC offers family dentistry in Madison Heights at James River Dental Center and in Bedford at Bedford Community Dental Center and works closely with local public schools to offer dental cleanings on school campuses.
Johnson Health Center is a non-profit federally qualified health center with 7 locations through-out Amherst, Bedford and Lynchburg. Services include adult and pediatric primary care and immediate care; OB/Gyn services, behavioral health care, dental care and pharmacy services.
Johnson Health Center accepts all insurances and reduced rates are offered to uninsured and underinsured patients. Patient Engagement Specialists are available to assist with Marketplace Enrollment and Medicaid applications.
