Joanne L. Schroeder has officially begun her role with Munson Healthcare as the new president of the organization’s Charlevoix Hospital.
“The team at Charlevoix Hospital is overjoyed to welcome Joanne to our family,” said Cathy Fischl, marketing and public relations specialist. “She has had more than 25 years of health care experience and understands the unique challenges that face rural hospitals today. We are grateful to have someone with her skill, experience, and leadership abilities.”
Munson noted that Schroeder — whose hiring as hospital president was announced in April — and her husband have a real love for Northern Michigan and the Charlevoix area.
Schroeder comes to Charlevoix from Bronson South Haven Hospital in South Haven, where she served the chief operating officer and vice president. Prior to that hospital’s merger with Bronson Healthcare earlier this year, she served as president and CEO of the hospital since 2006. Before her CEO role at South Haven, Joanne served as vice president of patient care services for Mary Free Bed Hospital and Rehabilitation Center and before that, she was vice president of patient care services in South Haven.
Schroeder holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing from Grand Valley State University and a master’s degree in health care administration from Ohio University. She is a fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives and a member of the Rural Health Clinic Association and Small and Rural Health Clinic Council.
Munson Healthcare Charlevoix Hospital is a 25-bed, critical access hospital located in Charlevoix. Part of the Munson Healthcare system, the hospital was established in 1919 and serves Charlevoix and northern Antrim County residents as well as thousands of vacationers each year.
